A retired couple were very concerned about the Cold War and researched to find the safest place to live in case of a nuclear war. They decided on the Falkland Islands and moved there. Then in 1982 Argentina invaded trying to get control of the islands from Great Britain. Peace is not found in a location. Peace is realized only through Jesus.

We quickly move from Thanksgiving to Advent, a season of anticipation and preparation for the arrival of Jesus at Christmas. What did Jesus bring to our world? Many things. This first Sunday of Advent we will focus on HOPE! God bless you with HOPE this Advent!

“Are we there yet?” is a frequent question asked on long trips. 2020 has been a long trip and most of us are hoping Thanksgiving will bring some form of pleasant distraction as the year winds down. Can we have a thankful attitude when the world is in chaos? Yes! But your attitude will be your choice this Thanksgiving.

Our country is divided. Half the people are disappointed. Life is not fair for them. How are Christians going to respond? Jesus’ life and death was not fair. But He responded with truth, love, and grace. There is an “upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Are you listening to God’s voice during this crisis?

For some, this has been another week of struggle. But with God’s help, those who succeeded in the struggle became stronger. We can face tomorrow knowing that God has helped us today! Christians always win—one victory at a time.

The word “grace” appears 170 times in the Bible. Grace has been the topic of Christian songs, books, and articles. Every Christian is a recipient of God’s grace. So sometimes I get concerned. If grace is so available, do I take grace for granted? I hope not. See you this Sunday!
